Pittsburgh

We finally started our road trip on August 27th after a brutal last two days of getting our house ready for the closing.

Abby and I worked 20 hour days for the last 2 days to get everything out of the house.

On Friday the 27th, the new family had a scheduled walk-thru at 9 am but showed up about 30 minutes early.

We get the excitement. They are a great young family and we’re really happy that they and their kids are moving in.

Road Trip

Of course, it had to be in the middle of a heatwave when we packed the car, but eventually, we squeezed everything in and hit the road.

At 11:10 we hit the road after some great hospitality from our neighbors.

We’re traveling on the PA Turnpike and after about an hour, it just poured almost the entire time to Pittsburgh.

I’m happy to report that our new Ford Explorer was a great vehicle in the rain and we made it to Pittsburgh about 6 hours later.

The Hotel

Mom always said that if you don’t have anything nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything…we’ll just leave it at that!!

You Need a Valid Driver’s License!

What’s a vacation without having to visit the motor vehicle department.

In all the craziness, it turns out that my license was expiring, but I didn’t realize until I made it to Pittsburgh.

Quite possibly the largest and most efficient motor vehicle office in PA.

The Sights and Food of Pittsburgh

The weekend was pretty much a washout, but we did get to see downtown and visited the PNC Ballpark area.

No Games Today!

There are a lot of great places to eat and drink there and it’s definitely a spot we would revisit.

Mediterra Cafe

The best thing about our hotel location was how close it was to the Mediterra Cafe on Beverly Road in Mt. Lebanon.

This place is awesome and the food is amazing!!!

5 Stars all the way.

Family

The best part of our Pittsburgh trip was getting to meet up with our Aunt Frankie and Uncle Jim as well as to meet cousin Drew and Janine’s kids Lucy and Drew!

It’s been years since we’ve seen them and we had never met the kids.

We had a great time meeting the kids and Lucy and Frankie have become great friends, and Drew could probably do without Frankie’s excessive slobber!

Keep an eye on them as we may have an academy award winner and a future tech executive in the family?

Seeing family from Michigan was great as we have many great memories.

Conclusion

Pittsburgh is a great place and we hope to have some more time on the next trip.

For this round, we just needed to get on the road and Pittsburgh was the right place.

Stay tuned for our next location.
